This educational session will help you understand what the CFO absolutely needs you to know as a true HR business partner, whether you’re an employee or external consultant. Paul will jargon-bust those commonly-heard and yet commonly-misunderstood financial terms such as accruals, prepayments, depreciation, amortization, ROA, ROE, and ROI. He will also review the three major sections of the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows—connecting everything through the lens of today’s HR professional. Paul will also present the 7 components of business financial intelligence (of customer, cashflow, profit, productivity, growth, teams, and community) to connect workday activities to organizational performance.

  • HR professionals can make a better contribution to their organizations when they understand the language of business.
  • HR professionals can positively impact the financial results of their organizations by aligning reward mechanisms around the key financial drivers of the business.
  • HR professionals involved with attracting talent are able to better communicate the success of their organization when they have a sharp business acumen.
  • HR professionals can traverse across: business units, industries and even the globe when they have a sound business financial intelligence.
  • HR professionals can go to the highest high of their organizations and job function (i.e., Chief Human Resource Officer) when they have business financial intelligence.
