GLYS' Safe Space Training is an opportunity for educators and community organizations to have conversations about how to best support LGBTQ+ youth in order for them to feel affirmed in any environment. In this presentation GLYS staff members will go over basic terminology and concepts, teach affirming tools and practices to implement in your line of work and briefly overview some laws and regulations that impact minor's rights. Her background is in Psychology and Women, Gender and Sexualities Studies with a focus on Queer History. Gi Swords (they/them), LMSW, is GLYS Western New York's Program Manager. They hold a Master of Social Work degree from the University at Buffalo and are a field educator for students at the University at Buffalo and Daemen University.
